I bleached my hair.
I dyed my hair.
My hair is now pink and I want it to be red.
Should I wait till the color leaves (a couple of weeks) before trying a new dye?

Tue, February 24, 2004 - 3:52 PMI've got limited experience with dyeing hair, but I don't think that waiting is necessary. Just be sure to have a real strong red dye, and a second dose will help bring the color in line. Or so I think.

Re: Dyeing Hair
Tue, February 24, 2004 - 5:35 PMA trick I always used was to put the dye in... let it dry... and then just leave it in.
you get the most vibrant colors this way.
(unfortunately you also leave stains on beds and furniture)

Re: Dyeing Hair
Wed, February 25, 2004 - 1:25 PMYeah, when using unnatural colors, leave them in a really long time. Much longer than what they say on the packages. These temporary dyes are all vegetable based, so it won't hurt your hair to leave it in and the color lasts much much longer.
I've also found that blow drying it after a shower helps color fast it too.
And of course, you just sleep with a towel over your pillow for a while or get a bed cap/shower cap! -

Re: Dyeing Hair
Wed, February 25, 2004 - 1:32 PMyes, sleeping with a towel on your pillow works just fine... but you must also remember to wash your face in the morning as the dye tends to rub off a bit on your skin. Manic panic that gets on your face in this manner (rubbing on skin after having dried on your hair) does wash off easily with soap and water. I'm not sure about other hair dyes out there.

Re: Dyeing Hair
Sat, December 17, 2005 - 9:51 PMi'm a hairstylist so this is my opinion (and just an opinion). you dont have to wait because the red should cover the pink. it may have a pink undertone but that could be really hot. go for it!
